What is Force Protection

Ronin Force protection evolved from a need for Ronin Security Group protection specialists to have a more holistic view of how to mitigate and respond to a wide spectrum of threats. Ronin Security Group has created an in-depth training seminar that focuses on mitigating the wide variety of threats our clients may face, from direct threats to persons or property, medical emergencies and natural disasters.

In 2010, there was a major earthquake in Haiti. At the time, I was working pretty consistently doing executive protection for several A-list celebrities, as well as providing security on world tours for many top-selling artists. At the time of the earthquake I was in between assignments and decided to seek employment on a security detail that I thought would be heading to Haiti in response to the major humanitarian crisis in the aftermath of that devastating earthquake.. I reached out to a colleague, to inquire about any opportunities to deploy. What he told me would be the genesis of what would become Ronin Force Protection. He told me there would be several opportunities for me in security but if I knew any EMTs (Emergency Medical Technicians) they could double their pay rate to provide security AND medical assistance. I told him I didn’t know any EMTs now but give me some time I will know of at least one, I was a licensed EMT six months after that conversation.

Unfortunately for me, I never did get the chance to deploy to Haiti and work as a protection specialist and EMT. However while I was studying to become an EMT, I made sure to keep myself informed on the situation in Haiti and always tried to consider how to combine the skill sets to best serve my clients.

As I progressed in my medical knowledge I began to research different organizations like Doctors without Borders and other NGOs so as to increase my knowledge of their procedures. I would soon learn about a real issue Doctors without Borders were having with gangs of armed displaced Hatians who would overrun the Field Hospitals that were set up to provide the much needed humanitarian aid in the region.It is from the realization that organizations like Doctors without Borders were not prepared for the stark reality on the ground in Haiti, the Ronin force protection mission to train advise and assist our partners in cultivating a culture of readiness, response and recovery, was born.

A key distinguishing factor of Ronin Force protection is the combination of covert and overt protective measures with the diverse skill sets of the Ronin operator, all strategically coordinated to avoid predictability. When the Ronin Operator is retained by our strategic partners, Non profit organizations, mission/expedition groups, the Ronin will greatly increase that group’s security and tactical capabilities.
